| Hospital Pharmacy
Community Memorial Hospital's patients receive quality care and medications from the hospital pharmacy. It is staffed by six pharmacists and seven technicians who are licensed practical nurses. At least one pharmacist is on staff at all times.
In addition, a clinical pharmacist works directly with patients, doctors and nurses on patient floors of the hospital. The clinical pharmacist works in the Family Birth Center, Medical Surgery and Pediatrics, Emergency Room, and the Intensive Care Unit. They work closely with patients who are very ill, have several medications or have medications that require constant monitoring.
The clinical pharmacist reviews patients' charts for possible drug-drug interactions or drug-disease interactions and makes sure the dosage is appropriate for patients. They also work directly with patients, talking to them about their medications and educating them on their medications before they leave the hospital.
